Here are two Public Service Announcements (PSA) from the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and the manufacturer of pet food, Purina that's been airing on Philippine television. The PSAs recount the poor plight of "pusakals" (pusang kalye) and "askals" (asong kalye). You must have heard, seen or even tasted (Ewww!) dogs getting brutally butchered and eaten while our feline friends became stuffings of siopaos (urban legend or not?) or a victim of road kill.
Created by Publicis and filmed by Henry Frejas, the TV campaign appeals to our conscience that these creatures may be "homeless but not worthless."
Now, look at those eyes of "Muning".
And here's the other one of "Bantay."
If you like the PSAs, help PAWS by giving your P2.50/SMS by texting PURINA and send it to 0917-588-2338 (for non-Globe subscribers) or 2338 (for Globe).
By the way, no animals were hurt during the filming of the ads.
